Editorial Policy

Purpose

Our editorial goal is simple: accurate, practical, independently written information about jewellery, gemstones, gold and the industry in Sri Lanka.

Research and accuracy

Guides are written from published gemological references, standards bodies' documentation and public data, listed in our source library. We do not fabricate laws, fees, statistics, historical claims or expert biographies. Where a fact has not been verified, we either omit it, phrase it cautiously with a pointer to the responsible authority, or hold the article in draft.

Dates

Every guide carries a published date, an updated date (changed on material edits) and, where applicable, a last-reviewed date. These reflect real editorial activity; the note Published, Updated, Reviewed: How to Read Our Dates explains how to read them.

Authors and reviewers

Content is credited to the Editorial Team until individually named authors and independent expert reviewers are appointed. Where a guide shows that specialist review is not yet completed, that is the literal truth; see the review policy.

Imagery

Illustrations on this platform are AI-generated and used only as editorial imagery, never as documentation of real shops, people, gems or certificates. The AI image policy sets out the full rules.

Data

Numeric reference data, including gold price figures, is compiled and labelled as described in the data methodology.

Independence

Editorial decisions are not influenced by any commercial relationship. We currently carry no advertising and no sponsored content; if that ever changes, our advertising policy and sponsored content policy govern how it would be disclosed and separated from editorial work.
