Origin report
A laboratory opinion on the geographic origin of a gemstone.
An origin report is a gemological laboratory’s professional opinion on where a stone was mined, based on its inclusions, growth features and trace-element chemistry. Origin can materially affect price for fine stones. Different laboratories can reach different conclusions; origin is an opinion, not a certification of fact.
