Ceylon sapphire
A sapphire of Sri Lankan origin.
“Ceylon sapphire” denotes a sapphire mined in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon). Ceylon origin is associated with bright, often lighter-toned blues and is a value factor for fine stones. Origin opinions are issued by gemological laboratories based on inclusion and chemical evidence, and are opinions rather than guarantees.
