Inclusion
A natural internal feature within a gemstone.
Inclusions are internal characteristics, crystals, needles, fingerprints, colour zoning, formed during a gemstone’s growth. They affect clarity grades, can prove natural origin, help identify treatments, and in some cases (star sapphires, cat’s eyes) create the phenomenon that defines the gem.
