Wastage
A traditional charge for metal lost during manufacturing.
Wastage is a charge, usually a percentage of metal weight or value, that some jewellers add to cover metal lost in manufacturing. Practices vary widely; buyers should ask whether wastage is charged and how it is calculated, and treat unexplained wastage as negotiable.
