Pleochroism
A gem showing different colours when viewed from different directions.
Pleochroism is the display of different colours or colour strengths along different crystal directions. Sapphire is dichroic, typically violetish-blue in one direction and greenish-blue in another, which cutters manage when orienting the rough.
