Adularescence
The floating blue-white sheen of moonstone.
Adularescence is the soft, billowy light effect that appears to float beneath the surface of moonstone, caused by light scattering from fine alternating feldspar layers. Sri Lankan moonstone with strong blue adularescence on a near-colourless body is highly regarded.
