Heated sapphire
A sapphire whose colour or clarity has been improved by controlled heating.
Heating is the most common and most widely accepted sapphire treatment. Stones are heated to high temperatures to improve colour and dissolve silk-like inclusions. Heat treatment is stable and permanent, but must be disclosed; unheated stones with fine natural colour command significant premiums.
