Hallmark
An official mark stamped on precious metal indicating its purity.
A hallmark is a mark applied to an article of precious metal to certify its fineness, and in many systems also the assay office, maker and year. Hallmarking regimes differ between countries; the presence and meaning of marks should be checked for the market where the item was made or sold.
